What It Builds
A visual model of strong feelings settling. Supports self-regulation by giving the child something calming to watch while the body settles.
How to Do It
- 1
Fill a jar with warm water and stir in glitter glue.
- 2
Add glitter and seal the lid tightly.
- 3
When feelings are big, shake the jar and watch the glitter swirl.
- 4
Explain that the swirling glitter is like a busy, upset mind.
- 5
Watch quietly and breathe until the glitter settles, just like the feelings.
Tips & Variations
- Glue tightly or hot-glue the lid shut.
- Make one per child.
- Keep it in a calm-down corner for use anytime.
